Creating a Positive Workplace Culture with a Remote Workforce
Creating a positive work culture is a task that is important to undertake for any company, regardless of size or industry.
During these unfamiliar times many companies are finding that a high percentage of their staff are now working from home. Therefore maintaining and creating a workplace culture of any kind is a challenge.
Even whilst working in different physical environments, it is crucial to create a positive workplace culture. The following 3 simple steps will help to achieve that:
Encourage Teamwork and Communication
Whilst staff are working from a further distance from one another than usual, it is important to maintain that sense of a team. Not only does maintaining teamwork ease the transition back into the workplace, but it can also force teams to grow and improve by having to adapt to their new ways of working with one another.
Reward Employees
Reward and acknowledge a job well done. It is a shame that such a simple act is often forgotten, especially as it can have an incredibly powerful effect on your workforce. Perhaps unsurprisingly, staff who are rewarded and acknowledged will perform a lot better in their roles, often going beyond what is expected of them. Who would have thought?
Set Clear Progression Paths
Staff will feel engaged and motivated to perform well in their role if they are able to see their own progression. Setting clear progression path can also encourage competition in the workplace, but in a positive and objective manner.
This is a key way to help employees feel like their hard work and commitment is being recognised. In turn, creating a loyal, honest and enthusiastic workplace culture.
Thorbjorn Bengtson, Managing Director of Inpsyght Consultancy stated:
"We are seeing now more than ever that staff are working remotely, but it is still critical to deploy a sense of company culture.
During these unusual times, it can be easy to let a sense of company culture slip away with the usually busy office spaces now quieter than ever. Recognition and communication is the key and the best way to keep staff motivated, loyal and engaged with the company. Whilst it sounds very simple, staff will appreciate it tremendously and will welcome a sense of familiarity and stability in an otherwise hectic world”.Thorbjorn Bengtson
